Do you want to get better at Excel?
Here I share some of my methods for improving at Excel over the course of your career/life.
As a bonus, you get to see what I look like.
Ways to get better at Excel
Highlights:
- Getting better at Excel isn’t about knowing the most functions. It’s about understanding how, when, and why to use the most powerful functions and features effectively. To improve at Excel, build that skill.
- When creating a spreadsheet, take a moment to think about what combination of functions and features you know how to use will be fastest and easiest, while still giving correct answers.
- If you’re doing something in Excel that seems clunky/dumb, Google to find a better way. The same if you think “I wish there were a way to do [something] in Excel.” There probably is!
- When you learn something in one context, think about how you can use it in other contexts.
- Always look for ways to improve your processes.
- Every so often, read through the complete list of Excel functions to see if there are any useful ones you didn’t know about.
